Q?

WHY IS VIDEO SO EXPENSIVE WHEN COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL PRINT MARKETING, ETC?

A.

Video is more expensive than traditional forms of media due to its complexity.  There are a lot of things to over see and there is no room for error.  Hi Quality camera equipment and lenses are expensive.  Audio, lighting, stands, tripods, dollies, frames, and other grip equipment is just as important.  Video file sizes are huge.  Your project can easily take up between 500GB -1,000GB of hard drive space in post production.  Different outlets for distribution require different video formats and file specifications.

HOW MUCH WILL MY VIDEO COST?

A.

That is a difficult question to answer without knowing the details of the production.  Complexity, locations, production days, 3D animation and post production hours are several determining factors which will be outlined for you in a line item quote.  Most of our smaller productions fall under the $5,000 mark, with a majority of productions costing between $5,000 - $15,000, and our higher level productions ranging from $15,000 - $30,000.

WHY DOES IS COST SO MUCH TO PRODUCE TRAINING VIDEOS OF A WEEK LONG EVENT?

A.

Training productions, while not always elaborate, often require many hours of production and post production.  For example, if we are asked to film a week long training session, recording approximately 7 hours per day, we will leave the event with around 35 hours of footage.  The post production process - backing up, processing, editing and exporting will often take 2 -3 hours per hour filmed.  That's 70-105 hours of work behind the scenes you may not see, but is necessary for proper completion.

Q?

WE HAVE NEVER DONE A VIDEO BEFORE, WHAT KIND OF PROCESS SHOULD WE EXPECT?

A.

Based on a conversation or meeting, we will provide you with 1-2 quotes with our recommendations.  Once you have provided a deposit or purchase order, we will start pre-production.  We will work with you to complete our production form, determine a location, and an estimated date for production.  This can be completed within 1-15 days from agreement date.  We will then develop a working script, confirm a date for production and arrange travel.  We will brief the individuals involved with the production, and outline specific shots to be aquired.  This can be completed within 16-30 days from agreement date.  We will provide release forms if needed, and production will take place as scheduled.  Your production footage is then downloaded and backed up to multiple sources.  If desired, we will provide you with Time Coded footage for review, aka "Dailies", which will allow you offer input.  This can be completed within 31-45 days from agreement date.  Papa Productions will then begin post production on the project, and provide you with WIP (Work In Progress) files for review.  We will then provide you with a final version of the video for your review, and make any adjustments you may see needed.  The project will then be finalized and backed up.  We will deliver specific files or media discs to you for distribution.  This can be completed within 46- 70 days from agreement date.
